Prokofiev Peter and the Wolf

See Sergei Prokofiev’s classic musical story on the big screen in Peter & the Wolf Live. This innovative OSCAR®-winning animated film, directed by Suzie Templeton, brings the familiar characters to life using stop-frame animation and puppets to recreate the timeless tale.

In Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf each character has its own signature tune. Presenter Thomas Hamill will introduce the instruments for each character in the story before the APO, conducted by Maestro Giordano Bellincampi, performs the beloved orchestral score live on stage with the movie.

The concert will begin with Lieutenant Kijé, a short, lively suite of music, another of Prokofiev's best-known works originally composed for the 1934 film of the same name. Elements of the suite's score have been used in many other films and even a couple of pop songs.

Join the APO for this fun family event - an exciting and entertaining way for young people to learn more about the orchestra.
