The “Michael Hill” is recognised as one of the most sought-after international violin prizes and the careers of future musical legends are launched here in New Zealand where they go head to head for a prize package valued at over $100,000.

From over 100 applications to 16 quarter finalists, then six semi-finalists, just three violinists will move on to the Grand Finale. Finalists will be announced after the second semi-final on Thursday evening.

In the Grand Finale each finalist will perform a concerto with the full Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Giordano Bellincampi.
