Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition
Featuring new compositions by:
This concert is a celebration of art and music featuring Ravel’s colourful orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and five new works by New Zealand composers, inspired by works from New Zealand artists on display at the Auckland Art Gallery. The works that inspired the composers will be projected onto large screens behind the orchestra so that you can enjoy the full audiovisual experience. This concert, in collaboration with the Auckland Art Gallery, is the latest of the APO’s long-running, two-year cycle composers’ programme. It provides valuable opportunities for talented composers to work with the orchestra.
