Meet the Artist - Tecwyn Evans

Our guest is Tecwyn Evans, conductor.

Born in Auckland in 1971 Tecwyn moved to Dunedin and graduated with a Masters in Composition from the University of Otago. He was awarded a Fullbright scholarship which enabled him to study conducting at the University of Kansas. He then embarked on an international career including conducting at Glyndebourne. Tecwyn was appointed in 2017 as Lecturer in Ensemble Conducting at the University of Auckland. He is conducting APO Connecting's "The Big Play In". The Big Play In is an annual event for aspiring young musicians to play alongside the full orchestra and receive mentoring from APO players. The workshop culminates in a free public performance at 7 p.m. in the Auckland Town Hall.
