New Zealand was the first country in the world to grant women the right to vote. 2018 marks the 125th anniversary of this landmark legislation.

Thanks to the pioneering spirit of the suffrage movement, New Zealand women now have the right to choose their own path and have a place in every aspect of our society, at every level. This concert, developed in association with Auckland Museum, will be an exciting mix of classical and contemporary music, inspiring multimedia imagery and the spoken word.

The evening’s programme will highlight female musicians performing music composed by women, as well as contributions from other prominent New Zealand women, including Dame Rosanne Meo, Selina Tusitala Marsh, Georgina Beyer and Dr Siouxsie Wiles. Former Prime Minister Helen Clark will send a special pre-recorded message to the Town Hall audience.

Join the APO and special guests to celebrate the extraordinary contribution and achievements of women – past, present and future.

Proud to be a part of the Suffrage 125 national event programme.
