Applications due 5pm Monday 24th June 2019.
The entrants for this competition are set with the task of composing a 90-second piece of music for a full orchestra. The piece has to be based on a famous New Zealander that inspires you and written in Rondo form ABACA. They’ll be judged on technique, originality and potential in order to be selected to workshop their piece with the APO at the Our Voice Workshop. (Application form below)
The maximum orchestral instrumentation students can write for is as follows:
1 1 1 1 – 2 1 1 0 – tmp+1 – strings
Two entries will be selected by the University of Auckland and APO Communities Composer, Ryan Youens, to participate in the Our Voice Orchestral Workshop on Friday 23 August 2019. At the workshop, their piece will be rehearsed and performed by a live orchestra and they will have the opportunity to work with APO’s Communities Composer.
Applicants must be currently enrolled at a New Zealand secondary school. This includes home-schooled students enrolled at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu
