University of Auckland School of Music 

Meet the Composer offers aspiring composers of secondary and tertiary level a one-on-one tutorial session with Composer-in-Residence Karlo Margetić to receive feedback on a current composition. To register, fill in the form below and upload the piece you wish to work on at the tutorial.

Rising Star 

As part of our commitment to investing in New Zealand music, the Rising Star programme pairs our APO Composer-in-Residence Karlo Margetić as a mentor with a young composer between the ages of 16 and 25, leading him or her through the process of writing three works for APO ensembles and the full orchestra.

Secondary Schools Composition Competition 

Applications close 5pm Friday 7 July 2017.

We invite secondary school composers to write an original 90-second work for full orchestra,inspired by something of their choice about the city of Auckland. The winner and runner-up will participate in the Our Voice Orchestral Workshop on 22 September at Auckland Philharmonia Hall.

 

Our Voice Workshops 

ENSEMBLES SESSION: designed for tertiary students to provide exposure and insight into compositional techniques for both string and wind ensembles. 

Friday 29 September 230-5pm, School of Music theatre

ORCHESTRAL SESSION: two secondary and three tertiary students will have their work rehearsed and recorded by the full APO. 

Friday 22 September, 1-3.30pm, Philharmonia Hall
