Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is proud to present the 10th annual Rönisch Auckland Secondary Schools Piano Competition. As Auckland’s premier secondary school piano event, the competition invites one student representative from each Auckland secondary school at Grade 8 level or above to compete for the prestigious title of Auckland’s top secondary school pianist.
Established in 2008, the competition encourages excellence in piano playing and has become a rite of passage for many emerging young artists who have gone on to start international careers.
The competition is presented alongside Patron and competition founder, Bryan Sayer, with the support of the University of Auckland School of Music and Raye Freedman Arts Centre. Prize money is kindly donated by Warren Sly of Sly’s Pianos.
All competitors will compete in Round 1 on Saturday 21 October. The public are invited to attend with an all-day entrance pass available.
Six finalists will progress to the grand final on Sunday 22 October. Tickets can be purchased separately for this concert. The evening will conclude with an awards ceremony following a short break for refreshments.
