Following careful consideration, Auckland Arts Festival has made the difficult decision to CANCEL Shoulder to Shoulder. The performance in which the APO and several guest soloists were to feature was scheduled to take place on Monday 8 March, however under the current lockdown and given all the associated uncertainties of the current climate we understand and support the Festival’s decision to cancel this performance.
APO and/or Ticketmaster will be communicating with ticketholders regarding this concert.
“Unfortunately the restrictions required under Alert Level 3 lockdown make it impossible for our orchestra to gather to rehearse. Some of our soloists and our conductor are currently located outside of Auckland and are unable to enter Auckland until this Alert Level 3 lockdown is lifted” explains APO CEO, Barbara Glaser.
“If our city returns to Alert Level 2 in time for Monday, we would still be left with no remaining rehearsal time and it is worth noting that we would still not be able to perform to a live audience until Auckland returned to Level 1 status.
Everyone here at the APO is grateful to our supporters for their continued understanding, and we hope you will also join us in sharing this support with everyone involved with Auckland Arts Festival during this challenging time.”
The APO will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and Government guidelines closely regarding future events and activities, and will communicate with audiences, artists and stakeholders appropriately as changes occur. The latest updates will be posted on the APO website and the APO Facebook page.
