APO concert impacted by COVID lockdown

Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra regrets to announce that the following concert will not take place as per the advertised date. This decision has been made in response to Auckland’s current Level 4 lockdown and the continuing uncertainty around ongoing lockdown restrictions.

The New Zealand Herald Premier Series: Symphonic Dances
8pm, Thursday 2 September, Auckland Town Hall

APO is working with all the associated artists, venues and stakeholders to reschedule this performance as soon as possible.

APO Ticketing and Ticketmaster will be communicating with all ticketholders directly.

In place of this concert, the APO will share a livestreamed performance from our 2021 Beethoven Festival, the recent Bayleys Great Classics: The Revolutionary featuring Bethoven’s Sixth and Seventh Symphonies.

This online performance will take place at 8pm. For a full list of sites co-hosting this online performance click the button below.

The APO’s encore livestreams are made possible thanks to the support of RNZ Concert, JX Live and Creative New Zealand.

During 2020 and across subsequent lockdowns, more than four million global viewers tuned in to watch the APO’s online performances. Follow APO on Facebook @aporchestra to be part of these free ‘online’ events.

“At this time, our decision-making processes are focused on the safety of our audiences, our musicians, staff and all our partners who work with us on these major events. We’ve navigated our way through these challenges before and we will do so again now.  Our thoughts are with all Aucklanders and all our friends and colleagues across New Zealand’s performing arts sector. Stay safe and let’s continue to look out for each other.”  - Barbara Glaser, CEO Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

The APO will continue to monitor Government guidelines regarding the COVID-19 situation and how this relates to future APO events and activities. If changes to events occur, APO will communicate with audiences, artists and stakeholders appropriately as soon as they can. Updates will also be posted on the APO website and the APO Facebook page.
