The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is part of a vibrant orchestra network in Aotearoa, including Orchestra Wellington (OW), Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO), New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) and Dunedin Symphony Orchestra (DSO). Each institution, while celebrating musical excellence also strives to support, promote and nurture our next generation of orchestral musicians, soloists and conductors.
In association with OW, CSO, NZSO and DSO, the APO is delighted to announce the establishment of an Assistant Conductor in Residence position. This is a paid position which requires the post-holder to be based in Auckland and to travel around the country as necessary during the 2020 concert season. The successful applicant will assist the Music Directors and guest conductors of the participating orchestras throughout the 2020 season. They will also benefit from mentoring by the Music Directors and from working with the senior artistic management teams at the orchestras, to gain experience, insight and understanding into the workings of a professional orchestra. Some conducting work will also be available according to the suitability of the successful candidate.

Successful candidates for audition will be notified by COB 25 October 2019.
