Born in York, England, Sarah came to New Zealand on the Rangitoto under the 1960s New Zealand government immigration scheme. She completed her post-graduation studies in violin performance at the Hochschule Fur Darstellende Kunst in Vienna, Austria and spent the following 15 years performing in Europe, where highlights include; being part of the Austrian Radio Orchestra with Vaclav Neumann conducting, Mahler performances in the Musikverein Saal, a tour to Cesena, Italy with Eduard Melkus’ baroque ensemble Cappelle Academia.
Further musical gems include summer operetta or winter period performances in the Royal Baroque Theatre of the Schloss Schonbrunn and four years in Japan tutoring at the Elizabeth University of Music, Hiroshima, and being offered a fascinating insight into Japanese music education.
Sarah returned to New Zealand in the mid 90s and regularly performs in chamber music concerts throughout the Auckland region. Her other interests include tramping in the NZ bush, the arts in NZ, and working on a PhD in Ancient Near Eastern Studies.
