Prior to coming to Auckland, Jessica Goldbaum held the positions of Associate Principal Bassoon with the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra and Second Bassoon with the Sarajevo Philharmonic in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She has performed with several prominent ensembles, including the Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Lubbock Symphony Orchestras, the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Jacksonville Symphony, the Alabama Symphony, and the Charlottesville Opera.
Ms. Goldbaum received a master’s degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where she was a student of Benjamin Kamins, former Principal Bassoon of the Houston Symphony. She also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Florida State University, where she switched her focus from classical saxophone performance to bassoon performance at the start of her junior year. She is an alumnus of the Music Academy of the West, Orchestre de la Francophonie, Youth Orchestra of the Americas, Pierre Monteux School, Orford Music Festival, American Wind Symphony Orchestra, and Brevard Music Center.
