Emma Eden began her musical life in Timaru at the age of 9 playing the tenor horn in the Waimataitai School Brass Band. She studied the French horn at Massey University, Wellington, with Heather Thompson.
After graduating with first class honours, Emma received a full scholarship attend the Banff Summer Music School (master class and orchestral programme) in Canada, following which she went Toronto for an intensive horn and performance course with Joan Watson. In 2013 Emma was the recipient of both Winston Churchill and Auckland Philharmonia Foundation scholarships to travel to Berlin to hear concerts and study with members of the Berlin Philharmonic horn section.
Since living in Auckland Emma has been fortunate to appear as a soloist with The Auckland Chamber Orchestra, Pipers Sinfonia, The Manukau Symphony Orchestra and St Matthews Chamber Orchestra. She has also performed in all of New Zealand’s major orchestras, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and in various groups throughout England, Canada, China, Australia and Tonga.
Outside of music Emma enjoys waterskiing, gardening and volunteering for Red Cross Refugee Services.
