Pelham Andrews

Bass

Australian Bass, Pelham Andrews, trained in the UK, Germany and Australia, and is a graduate of the Cardiff International Academy of Voice, Adelaide University, and a former Young Artist of the State Opera of South Australia. 

Pelham Andrews has worked with Opera Australia, the State Opera of South Australia, Victorian Opera and English National Opera in such traditional repertoire as Timur (Turandot), Colline (La Bohème), Padre Guardiano (La forza del Destino), Sparafucile and Monterone (Rigoletto), Méphistophélès (La Damnation de Faust), Nourabad (Les Pêcheurs de Perles), Lodovico (Otello), Zuniga (Carmen), Angelotti and Sciarrone (Tosca), Zoroastro (Orlando), Count Ribbing (Un Ballo in Maschera), Baron Douphol (La Traviata), the King of Bambaras (Angelique), the Speaker (The Magic Flute), Jake Wallace (La Fanciulla del West) and the Demon Farfarello (The Love for Three Oranges). He has also performed roles in contemporary operas such as Lester Lamb in Cloudstreet (World Premiere), Friedrich Bhaer in Little Women (Australian Premiere), and the Stationmaster (The Station).

As a concert soloist, Pelham has performed with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Australian Intervarsity Choral Festival, Melbourne Bach Choir, Auckland Choral Society, Manukau Symphony, Napier Civic Choir and numerous smaller ensembles. His repertoire includes the Requiems of Verdi, Mozart, and Fauré, Haydn Creation, Handel Messiah, Beethoven Symphony No 9, Mozart and Beethoven Masses, and Cantatas by Bach. He is also an accomplished performer of song repertoire and Russian folk music.

will also appear later this year as Betto di Signa in Gianni Schicchi and Tio Salvador in La Vida Breve for the State Opera of South Australia.
