Mikhail Tatarnikov is the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre, St Petersburg.
In this and future seasons, he will conduct The Snow Maiden at the Bastille Paris, Manon Lescaut at Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, and revivals of Prince Igor at Hamburgische Staatsoper and San Francisco Opera. He’ll also conduct a new production of The Demon and a gala concert at the Liceu Barcelona, as well as numerous ballet and opera productions at the Mikhailovsky Theatre.
Previously, he has conducted at Teatro alla Scala Milan, Bayerische Staatsoper, La Monnaie Brussels, Opéra de Bordeaux, Opera de Monte-Carlo, Theater and der Wien, Latvian National Opera in Riga, Komische Oper Berlin and the Mariinsky Theatre, among many others.
Tatarnikov studied music at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. After graduating from the Conservatoire in 2003 he continued his studies at the Faculty of Opera and Symphonic Conducting, under Alexander Polishchuk.
