Romanian born violinist Ioana Cristina Goicea is is the winner of the prestigious Michael Hill (2017), Johannes Brahms (2013) and Andrea Postacchini (2012) international violin competitions as well as laureate of the Fritz Kreisler (2014), Valsesia Musica (2012) and ACM Trio di Trieste international competitions. Recently, she was awarded the „Stefan Gheorghiu” special prize for the most accomplished romanian contestant at the „George Enescu” International competition 2016.
The young violinist already performed a large number of recitals and solo concerts in renowned venues, such as St Martin-in-the-Fields London, Wiener Konzerthaus, Romanian Athenaeum Bucharest, Hamburger Rathaus – Kaisersaal, Teatro Giuseppe Verdi Trieste, Sala Maffeiana Verona, Townhall Auckland, Duncan Hall Houston and performed at the festivals Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Heidelberger Frühling, Hamburg Chamber Music Festival, Mendelssohn Festtage among others.
Highlights of the 2017 Season include debut recitals at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Bratislava Philharmonic and Theater Odeon Zwolle, during the prestigious New Masters on Tour, together with pianist Andreu Banciu.
As a soloist, Ioana Cristina has performed with orchestras such as the George Enescu Philharmonic Bucharest, Romanian Radio National Orchestra and Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Norddeutsche Philarmonie, I Virtuosi Italiani, Kunitachi Symphoniker, Moldavian State Philharmonic, the Auckland Philarmonia or the Concertino Ensemble, to name just a few.
Cristina is also a very active chamber musician. She was invited to perform during the prestigious „Heidelberger Frühling” Festival Academy 2016 and participated in Masterclasses of the Kronberg Academy, The International Holland Music Sessions and The European Academy of Music Montepulciano.
Ioana Cristina Goicea was born in 1992 in Bucharest into a family of musicians. She studied with Professor Mariana Sirbu at the University of Music in Leipzig, with Prof. Petru Munteanu at the University of Music in Rostock and currently she is studying with Prof. Krzysztof Wegrzyn at the University of Music in Hannover.
Ioana Cristina is playing a violin by Giambattista Guadagnini (Parma 1761), on loan from Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben Foundation Hamburg.
