OPEN DAY

Orchestral Action in West Auckland.

For the first time the APO heads West to present a free, interactive Open Day.  Experience performances, meet the musicians and hear their instruments up close, in a fund day out for all ages.

Programme includes:

MAIN AUDITORIUM

• Folk duo Brenda and Mark Laurent perform with the orchestra (2pm)
• Piano accordion champion Eddie Giffney performs (2pm)
• Performance by studetns of Sistema Aotearoa (2.30pm)
• Watch the full orchestra in action with performances of Pokofiev's Cinderella, Smetanta's Bartered Bride Overture (1.30pm), and Hava Nagila (3.30pm)

YOUTH ZONE

• Get a taste of Remix the Orchestra - hip-hop meets the APO (1.30pm) featuring players from the APO, Anonymouz, DJCXL, Justn Effect and Pakkz Tha General.
• APO young Achievers recital (2pm)

FAMILY ZONE

• Tunes 4 Toddlers (1.30pm & 2.30pm)
• Make your own instrument (1pm - 3pm)

PLUS meet a violin maker, Music Zoo, meet the APO Composer-in-Residence, an introduction to the Sibelius music notation programme,  trade stands and much more
